This Spaniel Field Trial is held under the Rules and Procedures of the American Kennel Club.

The ESS Open and ESS Amateur stakes are limited to 50 dogs each. The stakes will be closed when the limit reaches 50 for a stake. If the other stake has room for entries please contact Helena for entry into that stake. Also, Hunt Secretary will maintain a wait list if needed.

WELCOME STATEMENT

Dear Fellow Field Trialers:

The Iowa Sporting Spaniel Club cordially invites you to four days of Springer and Cocker Field Trials at Three Mile Lake at new grounds near Afton, Iowa.

We will be hosting the following events:
Thursday, September 24th - English Springer Spaniel Open and Water Test
Friday, September 25th - English Springer Spaniel Amateur and Cocker Open #1
Saturday, September 26th - Cocker Open #2 and a Cocker Amateur
Sunday, September 27th - Cocker Open #3

The ESS Open and ESS Amateur stakes are limited to 50 dogs each. The stakes will be closed when the limit reaches 50 for a stake. If the other stake has room for entries please contact Helena for entry into that stake. Also, Hunt Secretary will maintain a wait list if needed.

The trial grounds are located north of the Lodge at 3 Mile Lake near Afton, Iowa. The cover is a mixture of brome grass and has been managed by the Conservation Officers on the premises. The FTC has walked the grounds and will have a walk-through survey of the grounds performed before the trial.

ATV/UTV: We are on public grounds and the use of ATV’s, UTV’s, or any other motorized vehicle is restricted. There will be a dog trolley to help shuttle dogs for handlers with multiple dogs around the course as long as the course is not muddy.

WE WILL ADHERE TO THE STATE OF IOWA AND THE AKC’S GUIDELINES FOR HOLDING AN EVENT UNDER THE CURRENT PANDEMIC. PARTICIPANTS ARE ATTENDING AT THEIR OWN RISK

THE FOLLOWING COVID-19 PROTOCOLS WILL BE IN PLACE:
1) Please maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more at all times.
2) No gallery.
3) The number of workers in the field will be limited to as few as possible (i.e. one
marshal, 2 handlers, 4 gunners, 2 judges, with no shaggers being used). Handlers will
be required to carry their own birds to the bird storage area.
4) Hand washing station, sanitizer and cleaning wipes will be provided. Please wear a mask when appropriate.
5) There will be no awards ceremony - placements and call backs will be broadcast via radio.

Per CDC guidelines July 20, 2020, participants will only be allowed on the grounds if:
- They have never had symptoms of COVID-19 or tested negative by nasal swab or have not been in contact with someone infected with the virus within 14 days prior to the trial, or:
- They have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or tested positive by nasal swab, and at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset or test result, and at least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms have improved.

All participants and observers are asked to self-evaluate every morning before coming to the trial. Please do not participate or show up to the trial if you have, or recently have had, a cough, fever or any other COVID-19 symptoms; or have been in contact with someone infected with the virus within 14 days prior to the trial.

ADDITIONAL EVENT INFORMATION


Open to AKC registered English Springer Spaniels over six months of age. This Field Trial is held under the Rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club.

Pheasant and Chuckar will be used for the Open and Amateur All Age stakes.

For your safety: Blaze Orange is required to be worn above the waist by participants and observers while in the field. Eye and hearing protection is strongly encouraged.

Training on Field Trial Grounds on the days of the events is not allowed.

Smoking is not allowed in the field but is allowed only in the parking area.

Bitches in heat are prohibited on the grounds.

DRAWINGS/RUNNING ORDER

Drawings will take place at Huntsecretary.com 8:00 AM ET on 9/15/2020. The Running Order will be electronically randomized and adjusted slightly to accommodate handlers running multiple dogs.

 

SCRATCHES
Scratches prior to closing date will be refunded by HuntSecretary.com unless Club Scratch Policy below states otherwise.
 
After the closing date, all scratches will be handled based on the Club Scratch Policy specified below.
 
Club Scratch Policy

After closing time refunds will be less $5.00 to cover administrative expenses.Entry fees will be refunded for A) female withdrawn due to coming in season, B) for a dog withdrawn because of an injury or illness, or death. A veterinary certificate is required for all health related refunds. Other refunds are at the discretion of the Field Trial Committee.

In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I (we) agree to abide by the rules and regulations of The American Kennel Club in effect at the time of this event, and any additional rules and regulations appearing in the premium list of this event and entry form and any decision made in accord with them. I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. I (we) certify and represent that the dog entered is not a hazard to persons or other dogs. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog.
