OPEN TO LABRADOR RETRIEVERS
This hunt is held under the rules of the American Pointing Labrador Association.
No Retriever may compete in 2 different categories per licensed hunt.

Each Dog is limited to one (1) Licensed Hunt.
Running order will be posted on the APLA web page under the EVENTS TAB

The Hunt Test Chair, with the approval of the Hunt Test Committee, may choose to modify the conditions of the Test based on resources available, weather or other factors and will ensure that the changed conditions will be posted on the APLA web site 24 hours in advance of the Hunt Test under the EVENTS TAB and on the huntsecretary.com site if needed. All participants are encouraged to review the APLA website for possible updates.

There are generally NO Walk-ups allowed. The exception is when the HTC has received a request by a member, who for extenuating circumstances, was unable to register online. Walk ups will only be allowed only if approved by the hunt test chair prior to the test date. Walk-ups by their nature cause extra work and will require an additional handling fee of $25 per dog. This fee shall be collected along with the registration fee, proof of membership, fully completed application, and dog registration info (AKC/UKC papers), before the dog is allowed to run.

No handler is allowed to run a dog without assurance that all fees have been paid and all appropriate documentation has been received by the APLA.

Proof of registration with United Kennel Club (UKC) as a purebred Labrador Retriever is required to compete in APLA events. The American Pointing Labrador Association (APLA) recognizes only Black, Yellow and Chocolate Labrador coat colors, as recognized by the UKC and defined by the Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. The APLA has approved that Hunt Test Chairs and Judges may report suspected deviations in color to the UKC. Proven dilute factored dogs are not eligible for APLA titles.

All dogs must be entered at the highest stake they intend to run for that test. Dogs may be shifted to a lower stake Dogs may only be entered in one stake per day.

UKC Applied Instructions

1.
a. Apply for UKC registration online
If the dog did not come with a litter registration number from
the breeder, register with UKC online at
https://www.ukcdogs.com/online-single-registration
**The page may take awhile to load and is best to register on a
computer or tablet.

Step 1: Basic instructions to complete the UKC online
registration.
Step 2: Owner information is entered.
Step 3: Dog information is entered including 3 photos (front
facing, left side, and right side of dog)
Step 4: Optional additional services including expediated
shipping and DNA tests are available.
Step 5: Payment is submitted on the final step as the dog’s UKC
registration is submitted. Single registration is $35 per dog.

*A discount of $10 per dog is available if the same owner
registers 4-8 dogs.
*A discount of $15 per dog is available if the same owner
registers 9+ dogs.

b. Since you are able to run in APLA hunt tests, please do NOT
contact UKC to check on the status of your registration. They are
still experiencing significant staffing shortages.

c. If you are unable to register online, you can register with a
physical copy of the registration form via mail. We do NOT
recommend this method as it is much slower than online
registration. The single dog UKC application can be found at
https://www.ukcdogs.com/docs/registration-forms/single-
registration-application-apla.pdf . If you have to use this form
of registration, please mail with a tracking number.

2. Find APLA Hunt Tests online at the APLA website or the APLA
Facebook page.

3. Sign up for the hunt test at www.huntsecretary.com . Enter all
information as normal. Where it asks for the UKC registration
number, enter the word “applied” and your entry will be accepted.

4. Bring proof of UKC registration (copy/picture of receipt from
online registration or copy/picture of the completed application
with the mailing tracking number and receipt) to the hunt test or
send to the hunt test secretary before the test.

5. Hunt test secretaries will give handlers/owners printed
instructions to send the UKC Number to the APLA Secretary (Linda
Brown) via email to secretary@americanpointinglab.com.

6. Any dog who has not yet received their UKC number, will have their
pass recorded on a spreadsheet by the Hunt Test Manager (Lukas).

7. Once the owner/handler receives the UKC Number and submits it to
the APLA Secretary (Linda Brown), the dog’s pass will be recorded
in the APAL database and will be removed from the temporary
spreadsheet. This is how the dog’s title will be awarded so it can
be recorded with your dog’s pedigree.

secretary for each hunt test your dog is running.

3. Your dog’s pass will NOT be recorded in the APLA database and the
title will NOT be awarded until your dog’s UKC number is recorded
with the APLA.
