There are numerous chain motels in Chincoteague which are about 45 minutes from the test site. There are also many airbnb options that take dogs.

Onancock, VA

Assuming you are driving south on Route 13, turn right in Onley on Route 179, Market Street. There is a light at the intersection, and just prior to the turn you will pass a shopping center on the right with a Food Lion and Pizza Hut.

Continue on Market Street 1.5 miles to just past the Onancock Building Supply on the right and turn left on Hill Street. Just where you turn Market Street narrows from 4 lanes to 2 and there is a gas station on the left.

Continue 1.9 miles on Hill Street, which will turn into Cashville Road. Pass two cemeteries on the right and about 3/4 mile after the second cemetery turn left on Kittens Branch Road. As you come to the turn you will pass a small white ranch house on the left, followed by about 100 yards of woods. The turn is where the woods end. The phone poles also switch from the left side of the road to the right side right where you turn. The turn is difficult to see until you get right on it, so look for the house and phone poles. Signs will be posted at that intersection to guide you.

Follow Kittens Branch Road about 1/4 mile to the test site.

Some GPS programs take you to the intersection of Cashville Road and Kittens Branch Road which leaves you a little short of the test site so just follow the signs from there. Other GPS programs have you make the turn on to Kittens Branch Road, but then announce you have arrived 100 yards down the road at my neighbors' place - please keep driving as you will know when you get to the right place just a bit farther down the road.

As an aside, out of state cars are a wonderful opportunity for the police to increase the local government coffers so make sure you keep to the 45 mph requirement when going through the small towns on rt 13.
